And OP, I'm more than slightly overweight but I can run up stairs without getting out of breath. I'm sorry, but you seem to get overweight and unfit out of context. I know thin people who get out of breath walking upstairs.

To be honest, just because you seem them eating an unhealthy meal means jackshit. You don't know if they're treating themselves or whatnot. It's not terribly good to have a bad diet and then deprive yourself of all the foods that you used to eat for long periods of time.

heart/lung problems
obese
just not exercising as much/not as fit
they walk up very fast
doesn't necessarily mean you are over weight or totally un-healthy

My Grandad was overweight/obese and lived longer than the male average...and this was him living on uncooked bacon for the longest time.

Point is, people who are morbidly obese generally do not live longer. You providing one or two examples doesn't change that as a fact.
