All politics aside their national anthem seriously whipped the everliving shit out of ours.


Really, it's not even close.  It's like America's national anthem is Edward Cullen and the Soviet Union's is Blade.  America's anthem is that big guy with the sword in Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Soviet Union's is Indiana Jones.

I don't know what Russia's Anthem is saying, but personally...having been to Ft. McHenry and knowing the history of the song. I believe our anthem is amazing.

While I agree with the OP one must note that the theme composed by Alexander Alexandrov was so great it was adopted by the current Russian federation albeit with modified lyrics

The new lyrics are shown in the video in Russian and English.  

A better tanslation is found here

Then again I confess I am still partial to the French National anthem,,,

it just shows the character of the countries that they come from.  USA is a lot more emotional and high pitched, while the USSR just sounds like a jumble of classical music.  Also matters who you get to sing it.  Some people can really suck at it.  OH and sometimes that doesn't work bc the French one is about killing people during the french revolution.  I still like how now we can mix the two.
