Wooo! I just became a support leader. :)

Here is my app:

I am sure that you hear this all the time in support leader applications, but the reason I want to be a support leader is because I love helping people. Not only do I get an immense amount of gratification from helping others, but I also learn new things in the areas of depression, stress, family & friend problems, drug use & abuse, etc. The entire process of addressing peoples' problems is a wonderful learning experience.

I recently took a psychology class at the nearby community college as a part of my high school's dual enrollment program. Learning about the human mind and how it impacts human behavior is incredibly interesting for me. One major component of an introductory psychology course is one of disorders and how to treat them via therapy. Other major topics in psychology include stress, motivation, drug abuse, communication, and relationship problems in families and among people in general. I have taken such great interest in such topics, that I often go out of my way to research them further. I feel that by being a support leader, I would have a great opportunity to apply my knowledge to real people with real problems.

You will see that most of my replies come from the Teen Stress & Anger Management, School & Homework Connection, and Teen Depression and Emotional Imbalance Forums. I can give excellent advice to problems of those types not only because I have a lot of knowledge in those areas, but also because I have been through stress, depression, emotional, and school problems myself. I can relate to those types of problems, hence why they are my specialty.

I think that my knowledge and experience can offer a lot to the support leader team.

I know that there is currently a problem in that there are too many eHelps to answer and not enough support leaders to answer them. I truly want to help combat this problem. I do NOT want to become a support leader to move topics and hide replies. After all, that is not the primary purpose of a support leader. I often wonder if many of the current support leaders became support leaders to take on some of the duties of a moderator rather than to help people. Unfortunately, I think many of us can agree that quite a few members become support leaders for the wrong reasons. I will not be one of those members.

Hi everyone, I just became an SL. Heres my SL app!:

Hey everyone. I'd like to become a peer support leader because I know that with my vast knowledge of atheltics (aka keeping healthy, gaining/losing weight, etc.) and relationship problems, I could really help someone out. I've already gotten a lot of feedback from people that I have helped on Livewire! The member "Kevin S" has updated me on his situation, and he is doing great right now. But before I end this, let me tell you about my history on LW.

You most likely dont know this because im good at disguises, but I am GrecoRomanGuy. I first arrived at this site for one purpose: To annoy. To me, it was fun to mess with other while seeking attention at the same time. I insulted with caring for others feelings, and I am so sorry. I am trying to erase my past conduct on this site by building up a new, supportive reputation. So far, I am doing very well. I really hope you consider me for the position of SL. You could really use someone like me, because im willing to help--No matter who you are.

PEER SUPPORT LEADER
We want solid peer support leaders because they participate in helping our most fragile members.

Reasons:
I believe I am very capable of giving support, advice and guidance to whoever may need it, I feel I'm friendly, warm and loving and can help people through their time of crisis, I also like to think of myself as a very hard worker, and a bit of a perfectionist.
I'm quite a committed individual, when I take on a problem I always strive to find the best answer to the issue in hand, thus producing the easiest but most effective route out of the problem.

I don't like to see people anguished in any way, it makes me feel helpless and upset, so I feel I've a duty to at least try to extricate them from their affliction, whatever it may be, I believe that there is always an answer to any predicament, and I'll look for, and find that answer every time I take on a challenge.

I would not in any way abuse my status as a support leader, I recognize that this is a notably trustworthy role to be given, and would like to be handed the chance to prove my competence and ability.

In conclusion, if you grant me this position, you have my assurance that I will live up to my role, work to the best of my abilities, be determined to fight off any problem that may arise, and conduct myself with nothing but good manners and fairness in all cases.

Thank You.

PEER SUPPORT LEADER
We want solid peer support leaders because they participate in helping our most fragile members.

Reasons:
I feel that I should be a support leader because I now realize that I should be giving back what I have taken from this forum. I have posted many posts to boost other member's morale, and have made numerous people's days brighter. Becoming a support leader will increase my limits for the amount of people I can help. This is not the only reason why I should be a Support Leader. Many people, naturally, have messaged me about their issues, when they had not even told anyone else about them. I always give back very meaningful messages, many paragraphs long, that will help them through their time of need. To add on to this, I almost always follow up with how they are the next week, showing that I do care. Finally, I feel that I should become a support leader because I simply do lead support. I have made and now manage several very popular groups for support, and always encourage it with my friends and other members.

Sad . All but 2 or 3 of mine were killed in the whole system crashingness. I feel sorry for those who want to become support leaders and have their stuff lost.

O HAI everyone!

---

I bet 90% of the applications you guys receive say that their most favorite thing to do is helping people. I do enjoy helping people. I love the feeling I get after ending a 2 hour conversation with a friend from school about having to move away or wanting to hurt herself. I haven't had the greatest past and I've learned well.

My friends tell me I'm quite good with relationships. This is probably because I'm a guy myself and most of the people I hang around are girls. I have four sisters ages 12,14,17,and 20. Since I went out to my school as gay, all my female friends have grown closer to me and I get to know them better. My best friend wouldn't be with his girlfriend right now if it wasn't for my help through their rough times.

I've also been through many of my own moments of stress, depression, abusing drugs and alcohol, suicide feelings, family/parent problems, friend problems, and the like. I've learned from these and I've helped many of my friends dealing with similar problems. I hate seeing people go through those things because I know how it feels to be in that situation.

I haven't been here long, but I've noticed enough that LiveWire isn't what it used to be. I've looked through past eHelps and noticed topics with 7 to 10 replies turn to topics with two or three. My last and only eHelp only got one repy. I see that LiveWire will eventually die if this continues. The support is the backbone of this website and I feel as if I need to do my share in helping those who come to us with their problems.

I think I have lots of knowledge and potential in helping many people and many areas, and feel as I would be a great addition to the LW support team.

I want to be a support leader because I like to help people.  At school people tend to go to me for their problems, and I am always there to help.  Another reason is that I actually follow up on replies.  I don't put something down and never come back to any.  There are some that I feel connected with, and want to see how they are going.  I like to go back through my replies and talk to the people who I have replied to and give advice there.

Hey! Thanks for your advice :-)
Im sorry about your childhood, but you telling me about it has brought up good points, I would hate for him to get attached to me and then we split up and it hurt his feelings and stuff. Im just so confused because as sweet and kind hearted and fun, and hilarious and smart as he is, he is not physically attractive and it sucks to say that but its the truth  and, being unattracted has just kinda turned me off period lately. Plus as of right now, he doesn't have a stable career and he still has a roomate. but he was upset when I told him I was thinking about this and even cried :-( I feel horrible

-Blondedancer10, June 7, 2006

I have been around the block a few times.  Stuff has happened to me and around me in almost all of the areas discussed on Livewire.  I, recently have had a friend kill himself.  One of the leading causes among teenagers is suicide.  I can give help to those in pain with more than just what I think has happened because I know form experience.  That is one example.  I go to parties, I have gay friends, have been around/ in fights, have had fierce arguments with my parents so bad, that I have gone and lived at my aunt's.  Experience will help me a lot as a support leader.

I have also been a support leader in the past.  I know how the novice and eHelp systems work.  I closed my account a while back when there was a lot of things going on in my life, and this one stupid argument pushed me over the top.  I had a positive support leader ranking and won an award for novice retention one week, as well as the fact that I was a manager of the support leader group.

The second time, I was demoted.  I wasn't on livewire a lot, so it was with good reason.  I was working the whole summer, and tend not to be on the computer that much.  During school, oddly enough, I am on more.  I am going to be more supportive and answer every eHelp that I have good advice for.

Thank you for listening to my ramblings, and I hope to help Livewire out again.

Shaun

PEER SUPPORT LEADER
We want solid peer support leaders because they participate in helping our most fragile members.

Reasons:
Hi. I'm back to fill out my second application. :)
Since I got rejected for SL my first time, I've worked alot more on being supportive and I think I've made good progress. I joined a supportive group, and that helped me get longer replies more frequently. Someone PM'd me and said they took my advice, and it honestly felt great to know I'd helped someone in their life.

The main reason I think I should be a SL is because what I've gone through and my personal experiences. Name it? Chances are, I've experienced it. Eating disorders? Yep. Abuse? Yep. Death? Yep. Realtionship? Oh, you dont' even wanna know the boyfriends I've had. Suicidial? Even that. I know what it feels like to be confused about things that are happening, and I had no one to give advice to me when I was feeling horrible. When I finally got help, it felt amazing to get rid of troubles. I want to give that same feeling to other people.

I'm not going to lie, I still have problems now. I still submit eHelps. But with each problem I get, and get over, I feel I grow stronger and can give better advice. And its great to say, "This has happened to me, and this is how you stop it."

:)

I believe that I would be very beneficial as a support leader. Often people message me with their problems, and I always respond. I sometimes even give out my personal screenname if the person needs someone to talk to. Similarly, I try to find hotline numbers. I feel like I can offer insight into the problems that many members face because of my experiences, and I try to respond to every support-seeking topic in which I have something contributive. Often I try to answer the 'unloved topics' if I can because I know that it's important that every question is answered. I have ample free time every day to devote to the duties of a support leader while I babysit for my brother after school. The fact that I have been dedicated to babysitting each day for three years shows that I stick with responsibilities and am a capable person. Also, I have volunteered and been trained to give supportive responses to people calling in to my school's helpline. This experience and training is obviously very beneficial to Livewire. Many of the questions asked on Livewire are similar to the ones I have heard when answering the helpline. Many times I see a topic in the 'Serious Forum' that I know I can be contributive to. If I was a support leader I could voice the answers that I have in that forum. I have an upbeat personality that makes people feel as though I'm easy to talk to. I'm fair, kind, and always try look at a problem from an unbiased point of view. These aspects of my personality could be beneficial when answering e-help queries. I am a member of the group 'The Divine' and just the other day I was given the title of "Member of the Week". This was because the members saw my supportive posts and voted that I had contributed the most. If I was a support leader I could continue to be supportive, but I know that I could reach more people. I wouldn't abuse the privelages of being a support leader. For these reasons and many more than you have time for, I would like to be a support leader. I genuinely want to help people and I know that I can if given the chance. :] Thanks.

THey were all TDEI and TS, though. The first time I applied they were like, 8 different forums, and the mod who reviewed it rejected it for being too broad. Makes sense, since not too many people ehelp about homework.

Every single one of my posts were in a different forum. Relationships, Sexuality, TDEI, Friends & Family, Stress & Anger Management, Pregnancy, Health, Eating Disorders, Jobs & Hobbies, and Religion.
Got accepted on my first application, too.

Got this on my 3rd try

I have numerous reasons why I want to become a tech support leader. I'm going to explain a few here.
Firstly, I have quite a knoledge of portable devices, from mobile phones to MP4 players. I know they are quite similiar, but they are still important to most LW members, and If they are experiencing issues with a portable device, I feel that I would have some knoledge of how to help them resolve their problem.
I know something in almost all areas of gadgetry, Including cars, as I am quite a fan of modifying them, and tweaking their power. I'm not an expert on cars, but I have a fair knoledge of their engines. Though I dont think any of the links I have give contain anything to do with vehicles.
I also have a knoledge of programing. I know some HTML, though I'm no way ready to make a fully functioning website, I'm still learning that. I have many cousins who have degrees in computer programing and graphics design, and it is from them that I have learned about computers, and programing languages. I know of most programing languages, like Python etc. But I cannot write any programs.
I have submited my current subject choices for my leaving certificate (your final exams in school before you go to university) and included physics as my #1 choice. I intend to study either Gadgetry, Computer progaming, Graphics design, or pyro technology when I have finished school and move onto 3rd level education.
However, I am not a genious, and I only give information I am certain is correct, so I wont end up giving false information. I always respond to tech topics that I can reply to.
Thanks,
